About Us
The Pioneer School is a private, non-profit, middle school. Our program honors adolescence as a unique period for both physical and social/emotional growth. Using a blended learning approach inspired by Waldorf, Montessori, and traditional pedagogy, students’ core classes are led by experienced teachers using highly-regarded curricula such as The Institute for Excellence in Writing, The Big History Project, Singapore, TCI, and Math U See. Pioneer students enjoy attending school and often achieve meaningful personal transformation during their time with us.
"One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again.”"
– ABRAHAM MASLOW
Programming with Purpose

At The Pioneer School, we facilitate rich and varying programs such as conversational Spanish, drama/ FL Jr. Thespians, ‘Brain Hour,’ 4-H, ‘Human Skills,’ Odyssey of the Mind, coding, American sign language, public speaking & debate, music, physical fitness, and art. These dynamic learning experiences tie into students’ core studies with relevant life applications and develop their skills in leadership, citizenship, entrepreneurship, emotional intelligence, technology, and practical life responsibilities.
We prepare our students for the selective and competitive programs in county high schools, such as IB/AICE, career academies, and arts programs.
*Per Department of Education standards, all instructional personnel at The Pioneer School possess either a Bachelor’s Degree or higher, three or more years of teaching experience, and/or special skills, knowledge, or expertise that qualifies them to provide instruction in the subject they teach.
